Needlepoint covers the whole canvas, so untick Leave white empty if the background should be stitched too. Mesh is the number of holes per inch: 13-mesh is the usual choice for wool, 18-mesh for fine detail in thinner thread, 10 or 12-mesh for quick, chunky work. The note under the tool shows the finished size on the mesh you pick.

The chart prints over as many pages as it needs, with a heavier line every 10 stitches and a key with a line to write in your yarn. For counted cross stitch on Aida, use the cross stitch pattern maker.
