Alpha patterns

An alpha pattern is a picture made of rows of knots, read one row at a time like a grid, as in letter bracelets and pixel-style designs. Type a name or a word, choose the letter color and the background color, and the pattern appears with every knot counted by color. A photo works too: keep it narrow, 15 to 30 knots, and use 3 to 6 colors.

The printed chart numbers the rows and columns and lists how many knots each string color makes. For bigger pictures in stitches, see the cross stitch pattern maker.
