ASL alphabet chart

The American Sign Language manual alphabet, one handshape for each letter, used to fingerspell names and words that have no sign of their own. ASL itself is a full language with its own grammar; the alphabet is a small part of it.

Most letters are a still handshape. J and Z move, and their arrows show the path: J traces a hook with the little finger, Z draws the letter in the air with the index finger.
