Pixel art generator
Turn a photo or picture into pixel art. Choose how many pixels wide and how many colors, in full color, grays or black and white, and the pixel version appears at once.
Save it as a sharp PNG at any size, or print it as a grid with a symbol for each color and a count of how many pixels each color needs: handy for building it with blocks in a game like Minecraft, beads or tiles. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
The photo is shrunk to the number of pixels you choose across, and each pixel takes the nearest of a small set of colors picked from the picture. Fewer pixels and fewer colors give the classic blocky look; more of both keep more of the photo. Grays and black and white give a print-friendly version.
Save the pixel art as a PNG, blown up with sharp square pixels (with a transparent background if you like), or print the grid with a symbol for each color, to copy onto graph paper, build with blocks in a building game, or color in. For drawing pixel art yourself, use the pixel art maker; for blank grids, the printable pixel art grids.
